Why Liquid Cooling Demands Smarter Pipe Support in Modern Data Centers

Liquid cooling is no longer an emerging trend. It is quickly becoming the standard solution for modern data centers. In 2024, liquid cooling technologies are growing at an estimated CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 22 percent, far outpacing overall data center construction growth of approximately 6.8 percent. Nearly all new data center buildouts now incorporate liquid cooling by design, and about 40 percent of existing facilities are transitioning to liquid cooling to support higher rack densities and increased thermal loads.
As data centers shift from air to liquid cooling, the impact extends well beyond cooling hardware. Liquid cooling systems require significantly more piping throughout the facility, increasing the importance of reliable pipe support. Proper pipe support is critical for managing system weight, controlling vibration, protecting piping, and maintaining long-term operational stability. As liquid cooling loops grow more complex, effective pipe management plays a direct role in system uptime and performance.
Wesanco-ZSI is seeing strong adoption of cushioned pipe clamp solutions in liquid-cooled data center environments. Products such as Cush-A-Clamp® and Cush-A-Nator® are frequently specified because typical liquid cooling temperature ranges often do not require fully insulated pipe clamps. These cushioned solutions provide secure pipe support, vibration isolation, and pipe protection while keeping installations efficient and cost effective.
“As liquid cooling becomes the norm in data centers, pipe support must be designed for higher density, continuous operation, and long-term reliability,” said Chris Sichak, Director of Product Management and Marketing at Wesanco-ZSI. “Our clamp and support solutions are engineered to meet the mechanical and thermal demands of today’s liquid-cooled data centers.”
In applications where condensation, thermal isolation, or higher temperature differentials are present, insulated solutions such as Klo-Shure® and Cush-A-Therm® clamps offer additional protection and design flexibility. Selecting the right pipe support solution for each application is essential to building resilient liquid cooling infrastructure.
As liquid cooling adoption continues to accelerate, Wesanco-ZSI remains focused on delivering proven pipe support solutions that help data centers scale efficiently, operate reliably, and meet future cooling demands.
